Thursday, January 11, 2018, First Hike of the Year
Come and enjoy our next NVJCA hike. We are returning to the popular Brown’s Ranch Trail. Hiking experience is not required. If you have sneakers, a bottle of water and can walk, you qualify. Members, their family and guests welcome. Hike rating is Easy/Moderate. See Attachment for a history of Brown’s Ranch.
Hike location: Brown’s Ranch Trailhead. 30301 Alma School Rd., Scottsdale. 40 minute drive from Anthem.
Meeting Location: Two Brothers Restaurant in the Safeway shopping center, Anthem.
Time: 8:30am. We will car-pool from the restaurant.
Length of hike: Up to 2 miles with up to 300 feet of elevation gain.
Time of hike: 1-1.5 hours. Go as far as you are comfortable.
Post hike: Brunch at the Pinnacle Grill Restaurant near the trailhead.

Our topic this month will be the Aleppo Codex... the oldest existing copy of the TaNaHK. It will include a description of what a codex is, how it differs from a scroll or a book. We will also discuss the methods that were developed to ensure that each and every scroll was exactly the same as every other copy... long before the printing press was invented.
